Advanced Architecting on AWS Course Overview (SAP-C02)

Advanced Architecting on AWS is Amazon's own advanced architecture course and the official curriculum behind SAP-C02, the exam that earns the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional certification. It builds directly on the concepts introduced in Architecting on AWS, and it changes the scale of the question. Instead of designing one scalable, elastic application, you are designing complex solutions that carry data services, governance and security across a whole organization.

Over three days the course works through centralized permissions with AWS Organizations, organizational units, service control policies, AWS Single Sign-On and AWS Control Tower, and how those choices differ in practice. It covers hybrid network design against real constraints, including FIPS 140-2 Level 2 and Level 3 compliance, specialized infrastructure such as AWS Storage Gateway, AWS Outposts and access to 5G networks, and simplifying connectivity between applications and high-performance workloads across global networks with Transit Gateway. From there it moves into container solutions and management options, the AWS developer tools and the CI/CD pipeline, securing data in transit, at rest and in use with AWS KMS and AWS Secrets Manager, choosing a data management solution by access frequency and query needs, building a data lake, optimizing edge services for latency, automating the scaling of global applications with geolocation and traffic control, AWS cost management tooling, and the tools and processes AWS provides for migration.

SAP-C02 itself runs 180 minutes with 75 questions and a passing score of 750. This is the standalone course. The same official courseware is also taught inside our six-day camp that pairs it with Architecting on AWS, where both exams and both certifications are included.

Who This Advanced AWS Architecting Course Is For

Amazon writes this course for people who are already designing scalable and elastic applications on AWS and now have to design something larger. It suits solutions architects whose scope has grown past a single application to multiple accounts, business units or regions, and who have to make the governance and connectivity decisions that hold those together. It suits infrastructure and network architects running hybrid estates, where Direct Connect, Storage Gateway, Transit Gateway and on-premises compliance requirements are daily concerns rather than exam topics.

It also fits consultants and technical leads who have to produce a defensible design and justify it to other teams, engineers who own a migration or modernization programme and need the AWS tooling and the decision framework behind it, and platform or DevOps leads responsible for CI/CD, resilience and cost across environments they do not personally build. • Accelerate Workload Migration and Modernization (20%): selecting workloads for migration, evaluating them against the seven common migration strategies, choosing the migration approach and tooling, and identifying what should be modernized rather than moved as is.

Official AWS hands-on labs run throughout, including securing an Amazon S3 VPC endpoint connection, configuring a transit gateway, building and testing a container, setting up a data lake and querying it, and deploying an AWS Storage Gateway file gateway with AWS DataSync. The course closes with a capstone project applying the whole three days to a business problem.
