This CompTIA Security+ bootcamp is a four-day, instructor-led path to the CompTIA Security+ certification, the baseline credential most employers and many federal roles ask for first. The week is a deep dive into securing networks and understanding how they get broken: attacks and threat actors, cryptography and public key infrastructure, identity and access management, secure architecture and resilience, monitoring and incident response, and the governance, risk and compliance work that sits around all of it. Who This Security+ Course Is For

Security+ is the entry point into a security career, so this camp suits system, network and cloud administrators moving into a security remit, help desk and support staff stepping up, and anyone who needs the certification to satisfy a hiring requirement or a compliance framework. CompTIA recommends candidates hold CompTIA Network+ and have around two years of experience in a security or systems administrator role. • Security Operations (28%): the largest domain, covering hardening and secure baselines across the asset lifecycle, vulnerability management, alerting and monitoring, identity and access management, automation and scripting, incident response, and using data sources to support an investigation.
• Security Program Management and Oversight (20%): security governance and policy, the full risk management process, third-party and vendor risk, compliance and audit, security awareness practices, and the reporting that keeps a programme accountable.

Security+ Prerequisites and Exam Format

There is no mandatory prerequisite for SY0-701. CompTIA's recommended experience is Network+ plus roughly two years working in a security or systems administrator role, which is guidance rather than a gate. The exam itself is a maximum of 90 questions in 90 minutes, mixing multiple choice with performance-based questions that put you in a simulated environment, and the passing score is 750 on a scale of 100 to 900. Those performance-based questions are the reason lab time matters more here than for a purely multiple-choice exam.
