This AZ-700 bootcamp is a four-day, instructor-led path to the Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate certification. It is taught using the Microsoft Official Courseware course AZ-700T00, Designing and Implementing Microsoft Azure Networking Solutions, by Microsoft Certified Trainers, and you take the AZ-700 exam before you leave.

The structure is deliberately front-loaded. The first three days are the official course and hands-on labs, working through the network the way you would actually build one: address spaces, subnetting and public IP prefixes, then name resolution with public and private DNS zones and Azure DNS Private Resolver, then connectivity and routing through VNet peering, user-defined routes, Azure Route Server and NAT Gateway. From there the camp moves outward to hybrid connectivity with site-to-site and point-to-site VPN, Azure ExpressRoute and Azure Virtual WAN, then to how traffic reaches applications through Azure Load Balancer, Traffic Manager, Application Gateway and Azure Front Door, then to private access with Private Link and service endpoints, and finally to securing and monitoring all of it. On day four you sit the exam, at the training facility or online proctored if you are attending remotely.

AZ-700 runs 100 minutes with a passing score of 700. The certification carries a 12 month renewal cycle, renewed free through an online assessment on Microsoft Learn.

Who This Azure Network Engineer Course Is For

Microsoft writes AZ-700 for people with expertise in planning, implementing and managing Azure networking solutions across core network infrastructure, hybrid connectivity, application delivery, private access to Azure services and network security. The role is accountable for the performance, resiliency, scale and security of that network, for monitoring it proactively, and for being the person who finally works out why two things cannot talk to each other.

In practice this camp suits network engineers whose estate now extends into Azure and who need the cloud equivalents of the routing, VPN and load balancing they already know. It suits Azure administrators and infrastructure engineers who have been building VNets by pattern-matching and want the design reasoning underneath. It suits cloud and solutions architects who specify hybrid connectivity and have to choose between ExpressRoute, Virtual WAN and VPN on real requirements. Because the Azure network engineer works alongside solution architects, cloud administrators, security engineers, application developers and DevOps engineers, it also fits security engineers who own firewall and WAF policy and need the network underneath it clear in their heads.

What You'll Learn in AZ-700

AZ-700 is scored across five skill areas, in Microsoft's own weightings, measured as of July 27, 2026:

• Design and implement core networking infrastructure (25-30%): the largest area, covering IP addressing, network segmentation, subnetting and subnet delegation, public IP prefixes and custom IP address prefixes; name resolution across public and private DNS zones and Azure DNS Private Resolver; VNet connectivity and routing through peering, service chaining, user-defined routes, forced tunnelling, Azure Virtual Network Manager, Azure Route Server and NAT Gateway; and monitoring with Azure Network Watcher, Azure Monitor, DDoS protection and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
• Design, implement, and manage connectivity services (20-25%): site-to-site VPN including gateway SKU selection, policy-based versus route-based connections, local network gateways and IPsec/IKE policy; point-to-site VPN including tunnel types, RADIUS and Microsoft Entra ID authentication and client configuration; Azure ExpressRoute across connectivity models, SKUs and tiers, peering choices, Global Reach, FastPath, ExpressRoute Direct and encryption; and Azure Virtual WAN architecture, virtual hubs, scale units and hub routing.
• Design and implement application delivery services (15-20%): mapping requirements to Azure Load Balancer and Azure Traffic Manager including SKU, tier, public versus internal and regional versus cross-region choices, load balancing rules, inbound NAT and outbound SNAT; Azure Application Gateway with backend pools, health probes, listeners, routing rules, TLS and rewrite rule sets; and Azure Front Door with routing, origins, endpoints, end-to-end TLS, caching, traffic acceleration and Private Link origins.
• Design and implement Azure network security services (15-20%): network security groups and application security groups with inbound and outbound rules, virtual network flow logs and IP flow verification; Azure Firewall and Azure Firewall Manager including SKU selection, rules, policies and secure hubs inside a Virtual WAN; and Web Application Firewall deployment, detection versus prevention mode, and rule sets on both Front Door and Application Gateway.
• Design and implement private access to Azure services (10-15%): planning and creating private endpoints and Private Link services, integrating them with DNS and with on-premises clients, and choosing when a service endpoint with endpoint policies is the right answer instead.
